Association between atopic dermatitis and autoimmune disorders in US adults and children: A cross-sectional study

A cross-sectional study of the 2002-2012 National Inpatient Sample was conducted to learn of the prevalence, predictors, and excess costs of autoimmune disease in atopic dermatitis (AD) patients.

Results showed that both children and adults living with AD have increased cutaneous and extracutaneous autoimmune disorders. Furthermore, a significant cost burden was associated with AD in children and adults.
