Analysis of the individual economic burden borne by adult patients with atopic dermatitis

The borne cost of atopic dermatitis (AD) was analyzed by using a self-administered questionnaire created and completed by adults with AD. Borne cost is defined as “the amount that a household must pay after deducting any reimbursements provided by government agencies.”

Results drawn from this questionnaire showed a significant economic burden of AD in adults with the condition; and the study concluded that this burden should be taken into consideration when aiming to improve patient care.
