A systematic review was conducted to determine the “rates, predictors, and phenotypic differences” of adult-onset atopic dermatitis (AD).
Twenty-five studies in this systematic review met the inclusion criteria. Seventeen of those 25 studies reported that the age of AD onset was after 16-years-old.
This study concluded that AD does not only begin in childhood, with 1 out of 4 adults with AD reporting adult-onset of disease.
