Atopic dermatitis: Recommendations for the prevention of flares

After disease stabilization, use of topical corticosteroids (1-2 times per week) or topical calcineurin inhibitors (2-3 times per week) is recommended to reduce flares or relapses.

Atopic dermatitis is characterized by acute worsening, alternating with periods of remission, after treatment. The strategy to minimize flares can vary depending on the individual and the severity, frequency and sites of his or her disease.
