Association of atopic dermatitis with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation in children and adults: A systematic review and meta-analysis

While atopic dermatitis (AD) has been associated with anxiety and depression, the magnitude to which they are connected is not fully known.

To obtain a clearer association between anxiety, depression, and suicidal behavior and AD, a systematic review and meta-analysis were performed.

Results from this review and analysis showed a significant association between adult AD and depression as well as an association between children with AD and depression. Little data existed for anxiety. Furthermore, a positive association was found between AD in adults and adolescents and suicidal ideation.
